Applying an attribute to a baselined module

I'm wondering if anyone has run into the following scenario and has a solution. My company has developed modules with an attribute which indicates the customer (it's called "Application") that each object applies to. The module is then baselined. Here's the scenario:

  • This module will be used for additional customers, of which are unknown (As my company wins programs additional customers will be added). For example, a module baseline (1.0) applies to Customer X and Y. Customer Z comes along and wants to use module baseline (1.0).
  • Its undesirable to change the module from the baseline to add additional customers to the "Application" attribute.

Has anybody run into a possible solution where a baseline of a module could be applied to additional customers without changing the module? In other words, if we have three customers currently using module baseline 1.0, and 7 customers are added to the program, we don't want to have to change the module 7 times just to add new customers, even though the content doesn't change.

I realize that a baselined module can't change, but was hoping someone has run into this situation and has a solution.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Don't use a customer attribute at all, then, It's unneeded. All that's needed for you to keep track of is which baseline was delivered to each customer, which under your scenario, it's the same baseline for all 7 customers.
